the Sullivan Lab

MGM
The Sullivan Lab is a member of Duke University's Department for Molecular Genetics and Microbiology (MGM). The primary goal of MGM is to understand the genetic basis for bacterial and viral pathogenesis, the genetic variation in humans that affect their susceptibility to disease, and genome organization and stability.
UPGG
The Sullivan Lab is actively involved in Duke's UPGG (University Program in Genetics and Genomics), a graduate program that serves as an important forum for training and education in genetics.
MOD
The March of Dimes provides funding for several projects in the Sullivan Lab. With this partnership, we strive to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth, and infant mortality.
NIGMS
NIGMS (National Institute for General Medical Sciences) supports basic biomedical research that increases understanding of life processes and lays the foundation for advances in disease diagnosis, treatment, and prevention. NIGMS, one of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), provides funding for several projects in the Sullivan Lab.
ASHG
ASHG (American Society of Human Genetics), the primary professional membership organization for human geneticists in the Americas, exists to promote research and educate the public about genetics.
GSA
Founded in 1931, GSA (Genetics Society of America) promotes the communication of advances in genetics through publication of the journal GENETICS, and by sponsoring scientific meetings.
GRC
Researchers in the Sullivan Lab participate in Gordon Research Conferences, an international forum for presentation and discussion of frontier research in biological, chemical and physical sciences and related technologies.
FlyBase
FlyBase is a database of genetic and molecular data for Drosophila (the fruit fly). Flybase is produced by a consortium of researchers funded by the National Institutes of Health (U.S.A.), and the Medical Research Council (London).
NCBI
NCBI (National Center for Biotechnology Information) is a national resource for molecular biology information. NCBI provides resources, such as public databases and software tools for analyzing genome data, to promote the understanding of molecular processes affecting human health and disease.
Pubmed
PubMed is a useful web source for accessing life science journals, biomedical articles and related resources from the 1950's to the present.
AP
Fluorescent imaging of fixed and live cells is a key component of research in the Sullivan Lab. Applied Precision provides a patented, fully integrated microscope system, the DeltaVision RT, to meet our imaging demands.
Molecular Probes
In the Sullivan Lab, we label DNA, RNA, and proteins with fluorescent reagents provided by Molecular Probes technology.
